42nd Authority Meeting Convened

The Civil Society Organization Authority convened its 42nd meeting on 9th August 2024. The meeting facilitated in-depth deliberations on several critical matters, including the draft Government-CSOs' Collaboration Guidelines, the CSOs' Endowment Fund, and new registrations.

During the meeting, the Secretariat presented its annual workplan for the Fiscal Year 2024-2025. Additionally, the Bhutan Civil Society Accountability (BCAS 2023) Assessment Scores were reviewed and discussed its way forward, highlighting the ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability within the civil society sector.

In a landmark event for the oversight and governance of Civil Society Organizations in the country, the Civil Society Organizations Authority announces the election of Mr. Tashi Namgay, Executive Director, Bhutan Kidney Foundation to it's esteemed body. The election conducted through a transparent and democratic process, facilitated by the Election Commission of Bhutan, signifies a pivotal moment in the agency’s commitment to accountability, representation and effectiveness of it governing functions.

Mr. Tashi Namgay secured 39 Yes Votes of total 41 casted on 16th February 2024. His election to the Authority will vastly boost the representation in the Authority with his immense experience and sincere commitment for the civil societies in addressing the societal issues. His term of membership is for three years.

The Authority plays a pivotal role in reviewing and approving new CSOs, ensuring that they adhere to the regulatory standards, demonstrates tangible impact and operate in a manner consistent with the values of integrity and social responsibility. By fostering a supportive and conducive environment for the civil societies, the Authority aims to facilitate collaboration, innovation and sustainable development for the betterment of our society.

As we embark on this new chapter of governance in the civil societies, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Tashi Namgay. We are confident that, with his membership in the Authority, CSOs will continue to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the wellbeing of our communities.
